It was a celebration of colors, rhythms, and flavors and joy hovering in communities in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, as they marked the 2024 New Yam Festival and showcased the spectacular tradition, unity, and gratitude of the people.
The festival grounds transformed into a vibrant spectacle as thousands converged to honor the God of harvest, ancestors, and the land’s bounty. Traditional attires dazzled, drums rolled out, and savory aromas wafted through the air, captivating all senses.
Masquerades danced with grace, youth groups performed energetic routines, and the elderly shared tales of yesteryears. The yam-eating competition sparked laughter and cheers, crowning the festival’s climax.
HRH Chief Emmanuel Otu, the Clan Head of Boki, emphasized that “This festival reinforces our heritage and community bond. We are grateful for the harvest and committed to preserving our traditions.”
As the Festival comes to a close, Boki’s spirit remains high, carrying the essence of African culture, community, and gratitude.
