Cross River-born and one of Nigeria’s best music video directors, ThankGod Omori Jesam, better known as TG Omori has called on NIgerians to pray for his life as he battles with a failed kidney transplant.
He stated this on his official X (former Twitter) handle, where he disclosed he underwent a failed kidney transplant at St. Nicholas in Lagos State, one year after the kidney crashed.
ThankGod who hails from Mkpani Community in Yakurr LGA of Cross River State, said this is coming after his brother donated a kidney to him so he can live.
“Yesterday my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again.
“One year after my kidney crashed I just had a failed transplant at St. Nicholas Lagos. Pray for me,” he solicited.
Who Is He?
ThankGod Omori Jesam was born 8 June 1995, known professionally as TG Omori or Boy Director, is a Nigerian music video director and cinematographer.
He has been in the industry since 2018 and has directed music videos for top recording artists across various genres of new generation, includes Olamide, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tekno, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy DML, Falz, Timaya, Naira Marley, Asake and many others.
In 2019, the 29 years old was responsible for around half of the videos on the summer 2019 charts countdown on MTV, Soundcity, and Trace. He directed videos for numerous musicians, including a controversial song by Naira Marley “Am I a Yahoo boy”,”Totori” by Olamide and Wizkid, and “Soapy” by Naira Marley which won viewers Choice at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
Same year, he won video director of the year at City People Entertainment Awards and directed two videos in top 10 most viewed Nigerian music videos of 2019.
Grew up in Lagos, Omori started directing at 15 while overseeing stage plays in his school and church. Omori was advised by his dad to be a waiter at a restaurant since nothing was going well for him at that time. Omori started making videos at the early age of 16, but took it up professionally at 20 after graduating from PEFTI Film Institute, making him the youngest professional filmmaker in Nigeria at the time.
