One such leader is Undiandeye, Peter Akonfe, a man whose significant contributions to the political and professional arenas in Cross River State and Nigeria have made him a respected and trusted personality.
With over 18 years of professional experience in process operations, Peter Akonfe has built a reputation for his strong commitment to progress and passion for good governance. His impressive track record includes successfully managing key projects and significantly increasing the net production of his company’s assets. However, Peter’s accomplishments extend far beyond his professional achievements.
Born into the family of Late Chief Sylvanus Agbadung Undiandeye, Peter hails from Bebua Ugeh Village in Bedialikwu Clan, Bedia Community in Angiaba/Begiaka Ward, Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.
His educational journey began at Sacred Heart Primary School in Bedia, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1988. He continued his education at several secondary schools, including Mary Knoll College, Commercial Secondary School, Federal Science College, and Begiading Secondary Grammar School.
Driven by his passion for Earth’s resources, Peter pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Geology at the prestigious University of Calabar, graduating with a Second Class Upper Division in 2002. His thirst for knowledge led him to obtain a Master’s degree in Petroleum Geophysics in 2008 and an MBA in General Management in 2014. This dedication to continuous learning has made him a top professional in his field.
Peter’s academic qualifications are complemented by his leadership roles. During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi State in 2004, while serving at Government Science Secondary School in Ogaminana, Okene, Peter’s leadership qualities shone through, leading to his election as Coordinator of the National Association of Catholic Corps Members in Okene Zone. This was just the beginning of his involvement in leadership roles.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Peter has been actively involved in politics. He first registered as a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in 1998 and even served as the Treasurer of Angiaba/Begiaka Ward of the party. When the party became factionalized in 2021, Peter made the strategic decision to join the All Progressives Congress, APC after 23 years of efficient stewardship to the PDP.
Since then, he has been a dedicated member of the APC serving as a delegate to the party’s conventions and playing a key role in the election victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, The Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, his loyal deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, and other elections. His involvement in politics underscores his passion for making a positive impact in his Local Government and beyond.
Beyond his political career, Peter Undiandeye has held leadership roles in various organizations and associations. Since 2022, he has served as the Patrol Guv’nor of DNKI, Cross River State Chapter, overseeing the activities of the organization and providing guidance to its members. Additionally, he has been the Chairman of the Parents Educators Conference at Bridge-End High School in Calabar since 2021, contributing to the education sector and positively impacting young students’ lives.
Peter is also a patron of several pious Catholic societies in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Calabar and is a member of the prestigious Noble Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba, KSM, Nigeria.
His involvement in various professional bodies, including the Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society, NMGS, the Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists, NAH, and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, NAPE, reflects his commitment to staying updated with industry trends and contributing to the sector’s growth and development.
In 2024, Peter expanded his expertise by participating in international leadership, peace, and security courses at the La Plage Meta Verse Academy, further demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact in every aspect of his life.
