The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has commenced the enhancement of security and regulations of mobile gadgets in the country.
The telecommunications regulatory agency has also launched a Device Management System (DMS) which targets to register all phones in Nigeria, to ensure every device used in the country is traceable and can be monitored, and also in accordance with regulatory standards.
NCC said the DMS will enable them monitor and manage the distribution, activation and deactivation of mobile devices, and also track their location and usage.
According to the body, the development is expected to have a positive effect on the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, providing a safe and transparent atmosphere for both the operators and the general public.
It is noted to regulate and prevent illicit activities like fraud and other vices and will help to maintain a fair and safe telecommunications atmosphere in the country.
