In line with the long awaited cabinet reshuffle by the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Dr Betta Edu, former Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has been replaced with Dr. Nentanwe Yilwatda, as the new head of the ministry while John Owan Enoh has been redeployed as Minister for State, Industry, Trade and Investment.
The decision was conveyed in a statement from the state House on Wednesday October 23, 2024, and obtained by CrossRiverWatch.
While Betta Edu and John Enoh are both from Cross River State, the former had faced allegations of corruption and a long standing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and has been cleared of the allegations shortly before the cabinet reshuffle, while the latter has been the Minister of Sports Development until his redeployment.
