In a bid to ease pressure on staff, occasioned by the effects of the hike in fuel price across the country, the Arthur Jarvis University says it is reducing work days from five to three per week.
The private varsity whose law program was okayed by the Council of Legal Education last week in a statement on its Facebook page said this was to “ease financial burdens,” and in response to, “the current harsh economic situation occasioned by the hike in fuel price.”
“To ease financial burdens, work days have been temporarily reduced from 5 to 3 days a week,” the statement read, adding that, “this change will help to ease the cost of transportation to work everyday, improve work-life balance and also support staff well-being.”
“We prioritize our staff needs, believing that their success is our success,” the varsity added.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL had last week increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called fuel for the second time in three weeks.
PMS is now being sold between, NGN1,050 in certain parts of the country at NNPCL stations while some independent marketers sell as high as NGN1,400 in some parts of Cross River State.
