Several shops and goods have been gutted by fire at Ikom Market, Mile 2 opposite Ucherori Street in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, causing widespread panic among local traders and residents.
The inferno reportedly started in the mid-hours of Sunday, January 13th, and engulfed several stalls and goods.
Eyewitnesses described the raze with thick smoke as unfortunate.
Firefighters had not yet arrived at the scene, leaving local residents and market vendors to play their little part to quench the fire.
At the time of the report, the cause of the incident could not be ascertained.
No casualty was recorded but goods worth millions of Naira were damaged.
