The Management of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), has extended the two-week break earlier granted to students, which was scheduled to end on Friday February 28, 2025.
In a circular with reference number 461 signed by the Registrar, Victor Ephraim Ene, said the extension is due to unforeseen “circumstances beyond the control” of the University’s Management.
He said every effort is being made to address the prevailing challenges to ensure the smooth resumption of the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.
“In this regard, Management enjoins all students, staff, and other stakeholders to exercise patience and show understanding while the issues are being handled.”
The circular added that formal announcement regarding the resumption date shall be made as soon as the circumstances permit. Fueling the crisis the more.
“We wish all students a fruitful and restful break and pray for God’s guidance and protection over them during this period.”
The institution recently has been faced with internal crisis including suspending its then Vice Chancellor Prof. Austin Angba who was however reinstated by the National Industrial Court sitting in Calabar a few days ago.
The National Industrial Court judgement came a few days after Governor Bassey Otu dissolved the UNICROSS Governing Council and appointed Fidelis Ugbo as Pro-Chancellor and Professor Francisca Bassey as Acting Vice Chancellor.
