The acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has nominated four members for the position of Cross River State Judicial Service Commission.
In a press release signed by Nsa Gill, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the four members include: Komomo Ntem Ikpi, Esq., Tasen Okune, Esq., Imaji Teresa Odey and Chief Asuquo Asuquo Asibong.
The nominees upon confirmation by the State House of Assembly, will join the statutory members to complete the composition of the Commission.
Recall that Governor Bassey Otu who announced three weeks annual leave, has transmitted all powers to his Deputy, Honorable Peter Odey to act on his behalf.

The release reads in parts “In furtherance of the exercise of the powers as provided for in Paragraph 5 of Part II of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended), the Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey Ph.D has nominated to the State House of Assembly for confirmation of appointment, the following persons to fill four vacant positions in the State Judicial Service Commission for a tenure of five years: Komomo Ntem Ikpi, Esq., Tasen Okune, Esq.,Imaji Teresa Odey and Chief Asuquo Asuquo Asibong.
“It is imperative to note that the constitutional provisions also stipulate that, in addition to the Statutory members such as the Chief Judge of the State, who shall be Chairman of the Commission, the Attorney General of the State and the President of the Customary Court of Appeal of the State, two members who are legal practitioners and who have been qualified to practice for not less than ten years, as well as two other persons not being legal practitioners who are of unquestionable integrity shall be appointed.
“Therefore, upon confirmation by the State House of Assembly, the four nominees will join the statutory members to complete the composition of the Commission.
“Accordingly, this appointment takes effect after confirmation from the State House of Assembly. Best wishes!”
