Ban On Commercial Motorcycle In Calabar Metropolis Still In Force – Government

The Cross River State Government has reiterated that the ban on commercial motorcycle operations within the Calabar metropolis and Calabar South remains in full effect.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bassey Otu, Mr. Linus Obogo, dated July 4th, 2025.

The affected areas include Murtala Muhammed Highway, Ndidem Usang Iso (Mariam Road), IBB Way, Diamond Hill, MCC (Mobil through Akai Effa), Calabar Road, Mary Slessor, Etta Agbor, among others.

Operators are, however, permitted to function within clearly designated routes such as 8 Miles Area, including Nasarawa, Bacoco, Ikot Eneobong, Basin Authority Interior, Nyakasang / Access School Road, Edim Otop, Harbour Road, Eburutu Army Barracks Road, Lemna Road, Egerton Street, Agro Feed Road, 8 Miles, Tinapa Road, Scanobo Road, Axari Road, Ekorinim Road, and Satellite Town Interior.

All operators are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the directive, as violators will be apprehended and prosecuted.

Security agencies are reminded that enforcement is exclusively vested in the Office of the State Security Adviser.
