An unidentified young man has been electrocuted to death in an attempt to steal high tension cable in Calabar.
The incident which occurred in the wee hours of Monday, 14 July, 2025 at Ene Ita Street, New Airport road of Calabar South Local Government Area.
According to eye witnesses, the deceased is suspected to reside in Anantigha, Calabar South LGA. He climbed the electric poles with the intention to steal the power cables belonging to the public power company -Power Holding Company of Nigeria, in the area before the cold hands of death embraced him.

Eye witnesses added that in the process of removing the cables, PHCN restored power and he got electrocuted.
As at the time of filing this report, onlookers had gathered in circles and mutter words.
