Churches And Mosques Should Acquire Police, Other Security During Services – President Tinubu Advices As Insecurity Deepens

By Patrick Obia

The Commander-in-Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has prayed churches and mosques and other worship centers to acquire the services of the police and other service agencies during the time of service as the spite of insecurity rises across the nation.

President Tinubu said this in a statement he personally signed and made available in the evening of Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the State House, Abuja.

“States should rethink establishing boarding schools in remote areas without adequate security. Mosques and churches should constantly seek police and other security protection when they gather for prayers, especially in vulnerable areas.”

While acknowledging the loss of lives and properties in the hands of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, he sympathized with the families of those who have lost their loved ones in recent attacks on soft targets in Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Yobe, and Kwara States. He paid tribute to the brave Nigerian soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, including Brigadier-General Musa Uba who was ambushed by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) earlier in the month.

The Commander-in-Chief warned that those who want to test his government resolve should never mistake their restraint for weakness. Declaring that his administration has the courage and determination to keep the country safe and ensure citizens live in peace.

“Fellow Compatriots, I urge you not to give in to fear and never succumb to despair. Let’s stand together in purpose and strength to defend our freedom and values. Our administration will continue to guarantee peaceful co-existence and preserve our union. I urge all Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant. Report suspicious activities. Cooperate with security agencies. We are in this fight together, and together we shall win. May God continue to bless Nigeria and keep our armed forces safe,” prayed.

Recall that he had declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered additional recruitment into the Armed Forces and Police Force.

This is also as he called for state policing as terrorism and insecurity ranges in the country.
