Public Workers In Cross River State Set For 2025 Year-End Leave

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the state, all Commissioners and Special Advisers, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff to Governor Bassey Otu; all Chairmen of Commissions and Boards, and all Permanent Secretaries and Special Assistants, have been notified of the 2025 year-end leave.

Others include the Clerk of the House of Assembly/Chief Registrar of courts, the Accountant-General and Auditor-General (state/local government), the Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, all Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments/ Parastatals, and other public/civil servants in the state.

The approval for leave was contained in a circular number 6/2025, signed by the Head of Service of the state, Orok Bassey Okon, on Friday December 5, 2025.

“I am pleased to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, granting all civil/public servants in the state leave with effect from Monday, December 15, 2025, to Monday, January 5, 2026,” the circular read.

He said the approval is to enable civil servants to fully participate in the Christmas festivities within the State.

However, he said officers on essential duties are exempted from the leave and are expected to remain at their duty posts to ensure continuous delivery of critical public services.

Permanent secretaries and heads of departments are requested to bring the contents of the circular to the attention of all staff and ensure strict compliance, the Head of Service enjoined.
