The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Rashid Afegbua, has charged newly promoted officers of the Command to regard their elevation as a call to higher responsibility, urging them to uphold professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

The charge was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Command, ASP Sunday A. Eitokpah, Wednesday 31 December 2025 after the decoration ceremony of the officers.

The ceremony was held at the Cross River State Police Command Headquarters in Calabar, where officers recently promoted by the Police Service Commission were formally decorated.

At the ceremony, two Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), four Superintendents of Police (SPs) were elevated to CSPs, while one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was promoted to the rank of SP.

CP Afegbua described the promotion exercise as a morale booster aimed at strengthening service delivery within the Command, congratulating the officers for their dedication and meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force.

Responding on behalf of the newly decorated officers, CSP Usani Arikpo expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, and the Command’s management team, pledging that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to effective policing and the maintenance of peace and security across Cross River State.
