By Kelvin Ololo

The Senior Special Assistant on Media Advocacy to the Cross River State Governor, Friday Awade, has expressed gratitude to supporters following his release from police custody after being questioned over an ongoing investigation into the death of one Mr. Abel.

“I sincerely want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who called, checked up on me, and stood by me during my time in police custody,” Awade stated in a statement on his official Facebook page shortly after regaining freedom, adding that the support and prayers he received gave him strength.

Awade, was earlier arrested on April 23, 2026, and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Calabar.

Police authorities had confirmed on Friday, 24, 2026 that Awade was invited for questioning and was assisting investigators in connection with the “sudden and unnatural” death of Mr. Abel.

While details surrounding the case remain limited, the police say investigations are ongoing and have yet to disclose the circumstances leading to the influencer’s death or the extent of Awade’s involvement.

In his message, Awade also pledged to remain committed to positive engagement and supporting people within his capacity, as public attention continues to focus on the outcome of the investigation.
