The Senior Special Assistant on Media Advocacy to the Cross River State Governor, Friday Awade, has been arrested by the police over alleged “sudden and unnatural death of social media content creator identify as Abel.
Awade, popularly known as “Otwetwe” or “Last Prophet,” for his radio program, was taken into custody on April 23, 2026, and is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Nigeria Police Force headquarters at Diamond Hill.
Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, told journalists on Friday that the aide is assisting investigators in connection with Mr. Abel’s demise.
The Police however, did not disclose further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the death or the extent of Awade’s involvement, maintaining that investigations are ongoing.
