The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, has confirmed the arrest of a suspected serial killer and his female cohort, Akaninyine Eretus and 35-year-old Uduak Essien over multiple killings and disappearances in Odukpani Local Government Area of the State.
CrossRiverWatch reported earlier that the suspect was apprehended by a joint security operatives acting on a tip off, tracking him to an isolated hut he built inside a forest in Abanyama, Ukim Ita Community, Creek town of the LGA.
According to the suspect’s confession, he and his gang have been masterminds of about 30 killings in the community.
The police command confirming the incident through its mouthpiece, ASP Sunday Eitokpah on Friday, May 29, 2026, said on 28th May, 2026, at about 1:30PM, one Mmawan Okon reported at Creek Town Police post that his father, Mr. Okon Ikon, had been missing.

He said following the report, family members initiated traditional inquiries, which allegedly revealed that the missing person had been killed and that his remains could be located in a nearby bush.
Moving swiftly, a combined team of Police operatives, military personnel, and community youths conducted a coordinated search of the area. During the operation, the male suspect believed to be connected to the incident was apprehended in a hideout within the bush.
Upon interrogation, the 40 years old male suspect led the search team to a location where the severed head of the victim – Mr. Okon Ikon, was recovered.
ASP Sunday disclosed that investigation and search efforts led to the discovery and recovery of the remains of a second deceased person, identified as Mr. Okonkon, buried in a separate location within the same bush.
“The suspects are currently in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), while investigations are ongoing. Efforts are being intensified to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” he assured.
Similarly, the police has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man Ibrahim Rua who stabbed his employer, Inaku Obok in Wanikade, Yala LGA of the state
The police said the suspect employed to take care of cattle without any altercation brought out a knife and stabbed his employer, Inaku Obok in the stomach and one Lukpata Lom on the head and back.
According to the statement by the police, as a result of the stab, Inaku sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to Lutheran Hospital, Yahe, for medical attention but was later referred to the Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, for further treatment while the other victim was treated and discharged.
“Through the efforts of the Community Youth Chairman, the suspect was arrested and is presently in police custody. Investigation is ongoing. Further developments will be communicated,” the Command added.
