The Cross River State Police Command has announced shooting range exercise on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Asabanka in Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the exercise is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m. and forms part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and professionalism among police personnel.
The Command explained that the exercise is aimed at retraining officers on proper weapon handling, inspecting service firearms, and assessing other operational equipment in line with professional policing standards and best practices.
Residents of the community are advised not to panic at the sight of increased police presence or the sound of gunfire during the exercise, as officers would be carrying out authorized training activities within the designated shooting range.
The police urged residents of the area, farmers, hunters, and other members of the public to stay away from the shooting range and its immediate surroundings throughout the duration of the exercise.
According to the Command, the precaution is necessary to prevent accidental exposure to stray bullets and to avoid any psychological distress that may arise from the sound of gunshots.
The statement appealed for public understanding and cooperation, assuring residents of the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Cross River State.
“The Command appreciates the understanding, patience, and continued cooperation of members of the public and reassures all residents of its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state,” the statement added.
The police advised members of the public to comply with all safety instructions and avoid unauthorized access to the training area until the exercise is concluded.
