Police Sets For Shooting Range Practice In Cross River Community

By Sylvia Akpan

The Cross River State Police Command has notified the general public that the Command will conduct a routine shooting range exercise on Friday, 5th June 2026, at Asabanka, Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, commencing at 8:00 a.m.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata on June 3, 2026, the exercise forms part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to retrain police personnel on proper weapon handling, inspect service arms, and assess other operational equipment in line with professional policing standards and best practices.

Members of the public are advised not to panic at the sight of increased police presence or the sound of gunfire, as officers will be actively engaged in the exercise within the designated area.

Residents, farmers, hunters, and passersby are advised to stay away from the shooting range and its immediate surroundings throughout the duration of the exercise.

The police said this precautionary measure is necessary to prevent accidental exposure to stray bullets and to avoid any psychological distress that may result from the sound of gunshots.

The Command expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of residents, while reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
