A fire outbreak is currently spreading through a wing of Calabar Mall, leaving shop owners in tears as only one fire service truck battles the blaze.
The affected wing houses a pharmacy, clothes outfit, perfumery, and phone shop.
The mall also hosts several multinational chain stores including Spar.
Sources on ground say the mall’s fire hydrant system has been overwhelmed, while law enforcement agents are struggling to chase away bystanders — some of whom are attempting to loot.
Staff of the affected shops were seen weeping for their properties worth millions of Naira burning into ashes as the fire continued to spread with force.
