The Cross River State Police Command has arrested ten suspected members of the Axe Men Confraternity and recovered a locally made pistol and other weapons in Abini Community, Biase Local Government Area.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, Sector 2, following intelligence gathering and surveillance.
The operation followed a petition submitted by the Abini Community to the Commissioner of Police on July 29 over alleged gangs activities in the area.
Police said items recovered included a locally made pistol, axe, dagger, gang-branded beret, police camouflage trousers and a cardigan.
The suspects allegedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to belonging to the Axe Men Confraternity.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, commended the operatives and urged residents to continue providing credible information to the police.
The Command said investigation is ongoing to apprehend other suspects linked to the case, assuring that anyone found culpable will face the law.
