The Management of SPAR have announced that the shopping mall will open on Monday August 24, 2026, for business.
The announcement is coming just a day after the mall was gutted by fire in the early hours of Saturday, 22 August, 2026.
The Management while confirming the incident said the fire was “contained by the mall management with the help of the fire service, and are grateful to confirm that there was no loss of life and no injuries were reported.”
Management assured that SPAR’s immediate priority has been the safety of her customers, employees and the surrounding community, as her teams are currently assessing the affected area and carrying out the necessary safety checks.
“We are working with the mall, appropriate authorities and relevant parties to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that all necessary safety requirements are fully addressed.
“Subject to the completion of the required safety checks, SPAR Calabar is expected to reopen to customers on Monday, 24 August2026.”
SPAR appreciated the support and understanding of her customers, employees, partners and the Calabar community, adding that their safety remains a top priority.
“The safety of our customers and employees remains a top priority for SPAR Nigeria,” the announcement added.
