The Cross River State Audit Service Commission has called for stronger collaboration with the Ministry of Justice to enhance transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources in the state.
The Commission made the call during a courtesy visit to the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ededem Charles Ani, Esq., where it presented the Cross River State Audit Law 2021 for consideration and proposed amendments.
Leading the delegation, Chairman of the Audit Service Commission, Dr. Christopher Nyong, said collaboration with the Attorney General’s office was necessary to strengthen compliance with audit laws and practices.
He stressed the need for institutions to adhere to established auditing standards to promote transparency and accountability in public financial management.
Responding, the Attorney General assured the Commission of the Ministry’s support, including taking appropriate legal action against institutions that fail to comply with relevant audit laws.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitments to closer cooperation towards strengthening good governance, accountability and effective management of public resources in Cross River State.
