The Cross River State Police Command has impounded 25 vehicles in Calabar, the state capital for violating vehicles registration regulations.
The gesture is in an intensified enforcement of the nationwide directives aimed at improving public safety and curbing criminal activities.
The operation which began on July 3, 2026, was directed by Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, targeting vehicles operating without registration plate number, covered, altered, defaced, unauthorized dealers plate number or obscured registration plate number.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokan Sunday Akata, said the affected vehicles operated against one rule or the other prescribed.
ASP Sunday explained that the enforcement exercise is designed to strengthen safety, and deny criminals the anonymity often associated with unregistered plates number.
He assured Cross Riverians of the Command’s commitment, adding that the operation will continue across the state to ensure compliance with traffic and vehicle registration law.
