The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced that it will not admit candidates into its Medicine and Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science, and Dentistry programs for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The announcement was made in an urgent public notice issued by the University’s Public Relations Unit, advising all affected candidates to immediately visit the nearest Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) office to change their institution of choice.
According to the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, the deadline for changing institutions is the end of July. She urged prospective students to complete the process before the window closes to avoid jeopardizing their admission prospects.
The University clarified that it is not the only institution affected by the directive, noting that three other universities are also impacted.
UNICAL also cautioned candidates and members of the public against relying on unverified information circulating on social media, urging the public to seek updates only from its official communication channels and JAMB.
