The Management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State, has banned the sale of bread, sachet and bottled water brands other than those produced by the institution on its campus.
The directive, issued by the Joint Task Force on Businesses on Campus (JTBC) on Saturday, October 24, 2026, mandates all vendors operating within the university to sell only UNICAL bread and water.
According to the notice addressed to all campus vendors, the ban takes effect from Monday, October 26, 2026.
The task force warned that any bread, sachet water or bottled water other than UNICAL-branded products found on sale on campus from the effective date would be confiscated.
The notice, tagged “Ban on Sales of Bread and Water,” was signed by the Directors of EDC Business and UNICAL Commercial Venture, alongside the Director of DOBOC, the Chairman of the Development Control/Illegal Structure Committee, and the Chief Security Officer of the university.
The directive was also copied to all unions on campus.
