“You see, Ugbo went to Ayade and Ayade helped him up to the tune of N10million. Somebody took money from another person and instead of him to work with the person, he is now working against him, it’s bad. If such a person is given opportunity to lead, how should we trust him, because even if a foreigner comes to tell him anything, would he not change overnight?”.
– Paramount Ruler of Yala Local Government Area, HRM, Ogamude Onah Ipoule
The Paramount Ruler of Yala Local Government Area, HRM, Ogamude Onah Ipoule, has disclosed to CrossRiverWatch that the five Paramount Rulers of the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State and their subjects are solidly behind Senator Ben Ayade, and are most interested in ensuring that he emerges as the next governor of the state in the April 11, 2015 General Elections.
In a telephone chat with CrossRiverWatch, the Royal father of Yala nation considered Senator Ayade as the best candidate to pilot the affairs of Cross River Sate after expiration of Senator Imoke’s tenure in May 29, 2015, adding that “the young Senator was already a governor as shown by the popular support he enjoys across the state.
“We the northern senatorial district Paramount Rulers unanimously accepted that Ayade is the only best candidate to lead us. He has been accepted by our subjects and all groups, so let him go and become our governor”, the natural ruler asserted and expressed the need for all their subjects to open their eyes and to see the good that will come with Ayade as the governor of Cross River state.
HRM Ogamude Ipoule strongly posited that the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Barrister Fidelis Ugbo, has no moral justification to contest the governorship position with Senator Ayade.
According to him, this is because the Labour Party governorship candidate had collected N10million from Ayade and then turned around to contest against him. “You see, Ugbo went to Ayade and Ayade helped him up to the tune of N10million. Somebody took money from another person and instead of him to work with the person, he is now working against him, it’s bad”, HRM Ogamude Ipoule maintained.
“If such a person is given opportunity to lead, how should we trust him, because even if a foreigner comes to tell him anything, would he not change overnight?”
The traditional ruler explained that they were not against any political party or supporting the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, but that they were interested and most concerned that Senator Ben Ayade should be the one to emerge as governor of the state, adding that any other good person as Ayade from other parties contesting other positions apart from the governorship can emerge, so long as they will have the interest of the people at heart.
“If there are people in other parties who we know will do well for the development of our land and its people, we will vote them; we are not particular about PDP but interested in voting Ayade for the position of governor”, adding that their position on the governorship seat was not because they hated other candidates from other parties for the same position but that they have discovered that Ayade was the only man among them who if voted into power will transform the area and the entire state.
Efforts again to reach Ugbo for comments were still not successful as all calls from CrossRiverWatch to his phone were still not taken.
