The Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ has admonished Cross Riverians to see today’s election as an opportunity to elect responsible and proactive leaders who have the capacity to reawaken the greatness of our country and to shun all forms of violence before, during and after the election.

In a statement in Calabar yesterday signed by the group’s chairman, Mr. Iwara Iwara, the journalists union advised the eventual winners and losers in the contest and their supporters to accept the results without resorting to violence of any form.

Part of the statement reads, “In Cross River State, we must vote wisely and peacefully with the potent understanding that this process must not be the reason why we take up arms against our brothers and sisters who may politically lean away from where we stand.

“When we do take up arms for this reason, we clearly lose the moral authority to partner with those who are working tirelessly to improve the collective interest of Cross Riverians.

“Where elections are won or lost, those on either side are advised to handle victory and defeat with a disposition that stirs no unrest because energies will be better spent working on ideas that will grow Cross River.” The statement concluded.
