Former CRUTECH Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Giddings Arikpo Dies At 66

The former Deputy Vice Chancellor( DVC) Academics, Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), Professor Giddings Arikpo has died at aged 66years.

CrossRiverWatch gathered that he died on Tuesday May 11, 2015 after been driven to a clinic following following complaints of “intestinal issues”.

The late Giddings Arikpo became a Professor of Environmental Microbiology in the department of Biological sciences, Faculty of sciences in 2012 while serving as the DVC academic during the tenure of Professor Eneobong Ene-Obong as Vice Chancellor.

He was born on October 12, 1948, hails from Obubra Local Government, and until his death, he was an alumni of Mary Knoll college Okuku, Yala Local Government Area and London Southbank University in the United Kingdom.

CrossRiverWatch equally learnt that he was also on the verge of traveling to Cyprus on an official assignment before he was snatched by the cold hands of death.

Staff and students of the institution remain shocked as news of his death continues filtering through the crevices of the institution as colleagues say he was hale and hearty at the last congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU CRUTECH branch which the decision to call of the strike was made.

As at press time official burial arrangements were yet to be announced.
