A man and his son have been shot by armed robbers who attacked their residence in Calabar earlier this week.
The operation which CrossRiverWatch gathered lasted for over three hours occurred behind Millicent Fuel Station along MCC road with the owner of the station being the victim.
Family sources told CrossRiverWatch that the incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday between 1a.m. and 4a.m. saw the bandits first tying up the security guard and seizing his phone and then proceeded to the house which shares a perimeter fence with the fuel station.
“When they came, they shot through the door, later through the window which they broke and came in through” says the source.
Our source also added that a stray bullet pierced through the window hitting the son in the leg while the father was shot after the robbers gained entry through the window.
It is alleged that the robbers after almost three hours of operation left with “small cash” as they could not find “whatever it is they were looking for”.
The victims were later admitted at an undisclosed private clinic and have been operated upon to extract pellets from their bodies.
When CrossRiverWatch visited the building, renovation was ongoing with welders fixing the broken metal works.
Shattered glasses where the bullets went through and a part where one round lodged in the wall was visible.
Another source confirmed that the police had visited and collected statements but were yet to confirm any trail of suspects as at press time.
Unconfirmed information reaching CrossRiverWatch suggests that the victims are recuperating after undergoing surgery.
The State Police Spokesman was not reachable on the phone.
