A retired Army Captain and Chief Security Officer of Mobil Oil in Onne, Ukel J. Agba was Wednesday kidnapped at gun point on his way back from the ash Wednesday mass in Eleme, Rivers State.
Captain Agba, an indigene of Bedia Village in Obudu Local Government of Cross River State, was said to be driving in his car from the Catholic Church in Eleme after the mass, when a group of four heavily armed men stopped his vehicle and took him away at gun point.
Crossriverwatch gathered from the Captain’s family source that the kidnappers contacted the family and asked for twenty million Naira ransom and later reduced it to fifteen million.
The source who did not want to be named said, “But when Madam went to give the kidnappers ten million Naira at the location they decided, they freed Oga; that was last night, and took Madam away insisting on collecting the balance before Madam will be released. The company is in touch with the kidnappers and we hope Madam too will be released today or tomorrow”.
Public Affairs Advisor of Exxon Mobil, Mr. Yemi Fakaiyejo, confirmed the kidnapped to crossriverwatch on the phone. He said “Yes, he was kidnapped on Wednesday. The company is in touch with both the family and the kidnappers. We are praying for his family members”.
