Prof. Anthony Owan Eno has revealed that after spending over two years as the Vice Chancellor Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) the institutions’ ranking in Nigeria has dropped 56 from 115 out of 140.
The CRUTECH VC made the disclosure in his office recently when he received a delegation from National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS).
He gave commendation to his management team and students for the support they have given to him since 2014 when he came into office.
Prof. Anthony after been presented with an award of excellence pledged on behalf of his management team that “we will continue to do our best for posterity sake; I see the award as a token to my endeavor”.
The VC further disclosed that he was recently given an award and also had a book written in his honor by lecturers of College of Education Awi/Akamkpa who felt his tenure there was remarkable.
Concluding he maintained, “By the time I leave CRUTECH will be number 25 in the ranking of Nigeria universities, that promise I have given to my students, management, my staff and that same promise I have given to the State”.
On his part, Tijani Usman, NANS President who was on inspection tour while speaking earlier expressed satisfaction with what he had seen in CRUTECH.
Also, he said he wasn’t pleased with what he saw at College of Education Awi/Akamkpa and Obudu, lamenting bitterly about the condition of their hostels especially females which he said are poor.
The NANS President was accompanied by some of his executive members and Principal Officers of the CRUTECH Student Union Government.
The team used the opportunity to pay a solidarity visit to Amba Patrick, emeritus NANS Joint Campus Commission Chairman (Cross River State) who was involved in a ghastly motor accident and suffering from spinal cord injury among others.
