One Student Crushed To Death, Two Siblings Critically Injured In Ugep Auto Crash (very gory pictures)

An auto accident along Ikom/Calabar highway today claimed the life of a female student while two of her siblings were rushed to the hospital after sustaining life threatening injuries. The accident occurred close to Obioko Ijiman in Ugep, Yakurr LGA.

The Honda Accord car with plate number AWK 638 AE was driven by one Mr. Etowa, a mechanic apprentice who was testing the car after effecting some repair work on the vehicle.

Eyes witnesses told CrossRiverWatch that Etowa veered off his lane unto the opposite lane and first crushed two chickens before he lost control and rammed into a group of students who were returning from school at about 3.12pm.

The three students where later confirmed to be children of one Mr. Okoi in Ijiman Ugep. Some Police men later came to the scene of the accident, packed the body of the female student who had been badly crushed by the vehicle, in a bag and took her to her family compound where she was promptly buried by family members.

The other two siblings who were also critical injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care while a crowd of sympathizers was seen crying and praying to God to spare the lives of the injured.

Mr. Etowa, the mechanic apprentice who drove the car was said to have eloped immediately the accident happened but the vehicle was vandalized by the angry crowd.

    Honestly, I do not know what was achieved by the publication of the crushed body of the unfortunate female student.

    These pictures should not have been published under any circumstance out of respect for the deceased and her family.

    Do Nigeria media has any rules that guide or requirements that must be met before a photograph is deemed in good taste and hence publishable?

    May her soul rest in peace!
