The Cross River State Chapter Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (CRS-NIS), Dr. Gertrude Nnanjar Njar, has revealed that her body had put in over 10 million naira in the super-highway project, money which she said they are yet to recover.

The Chairman barred her mind recently while speaking on a radio program “The Dialogue with Agba Jalingo, on Hit 95.5 fm Calabar” where she was a co-guest with the Commissioner for New Cities Development, Barrister George Ekpungu.

In Her words; “This super-highway issue, my professional body has sunk in over 10 million naira for the first 15 kilometers, 10 million for a professional body is not an easy task and I being the State Chairman has been bombarded with questions”.

Furthermore, she expressed her dismay about the fact that after sinking in over 10 million naira, the State Government has up to this moment not interfaced with the body of surveyors to think of possible ways they can contribute to the project.

Dr. Njar further accused the Government of not using local content in the implementation of most of their projects.

In his response, the Commissioner for New Cities Development said the Governor might not be aware of the claims of the Surveyors.

Barrister Ekpungu further blamed the various MDAs responsible for interfacing with professional bodies such as NIS for the disconnect.

However, he concluded by promising that he will immediately open discussions with the Institution of Surveyors in the State to harness their inputs.
