The new Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the headquarters of Zone 6 Command in Calabar, Mr. Jonathan Johnson is to resume on or before March 18, 2013.
Mr. Jonathan Johnson until his present posting was the AIG in charge of Zone 8 Command.
Mr. Johnson is coming three months after the death of the former AIG Ibrahim Muktari who died from an undisclosed ailment at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital UCTH on December 22, 2012.
A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba which was obtained by crossriverwatch said: “In line with the reformation and reconstruction of the Nigeria Police, seven Assistant Inspectors General of Police have been redeployed to the different commands and formations across the country.
“The redeployment which was effected by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar affected AIG Jonathan Johnson, who will resume as the AIG in charge of Zone 6 which is made up of Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers States”.
The statement also announced the creation of a new command known as the Maritime Police Command which is to be headed by AIG Mark Idakwo.
The new command according to Mba, is a fusion of the Marine Police Command, the Ports Authority Command as well as the Inland Waterways formation.
The other affected AIGs, who are all expected to resume at their new duty posts on or before 18th March, 2013, include: Mark A. Idakwo – Maritime Police Command,Christopher Dega – Zone 8 Lokoja, Mohammed J. Abubakar – Zone 3 Yola, Tambari Y. Mohammed – Zone 9 Umuahia, Sule Mamman – Zone 10 Sokoto and Adisa Baba Bolanta – Police Academy (POLAC).
