The Cross River State Government has placed a ban on erecting of outdoor advertisement boards not produced in the State.
This was made known by the Director General Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA), Stanley Nsemo-Livingstone where he revealed that they are currently working with some students from Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) for mass production of bill boards.
His words: “CRISSA is undergoing a major project of building not only digital bill board but what we call ‘a rotator flip board’ which will be placed at Efio-Ette and other strategic places in Calabar, we have been on it for over a year now but have not yet perfected. The frame, timing, electronics and other mechanisms necessary have been created and they are practically working with students from CRUTECH”.
Adding that, “We proceeded to say that even in our general process and operators, nobody can just bring a printed material into Calabar from outside Calabar and display it in Calabar, if it is been noticed we will find a way and bring it down, we have mentioned to all our partners and operators that they should patronize made in Cross River State specifically. Once more, this is another thing that His Excellency is capable, “made in Cross River”.
He further disclosed that upon resumption of office his first action was to ensure that the agency’s key partner; Chris Parks Marketing Solution (CPMS) obey the local content law of the State by replacing all its staff with Cross Riverians.
The CRISSAA DG said, “Certainly 85% of billboards in Cross River State are made in here and one of our first move was to make sure that everyone working in the CPMS is from Cross River State. It was discovered that the Manager and a few other workers were from one State or the other but one of the first things we did was to make sure everyone that works here is from Cross River State, which has succeeded”.
Concluding, he noted that: “We are pushing to make sure that the money that the Governor spends or the money that is made in Cross River is not taken out of the State”.
