President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Anthony Mkpe Ayine, from Wula in Boki LGA of Cross River state to the Nigerian Senate to be confirmed as the Auditor General of the Federation.
In a letter sent to the Senate, and read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, Buhari said: “In line with this constitutional requirement, the Federal Civil Service Commission has recommended Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine for appointment as the Auditor-General for the Federation. The Curriculum Vitae of Mr. A. M. Ayine is herewith attached.
“I have accepted this recommendation and hereby present the nomination of Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine for confirmation by the Senate.
“While hoping that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Distinguished Senators, please accept, Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest regards.”
It will be recalled that the President has made several high profile appointments from Cross River State since he took office.
When confirmed, Mr. Ayine will take over from Mrs Florence Anyanwu who was appointed acting Auditor-General of the Federation (AuGF) in June 2016.
Some of the appointees from the state include, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chairman of the NDDC Board, Head of Service of the Federation, Chief Justice of the Federation, Chief of Naval Staff and the Special Assistant on Prosecution to the President.
