The wife of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, Dr. Linda Ayade Saturday in Obudu concluded the official inauguration of the Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative (CROWEI), a development initiative in the 18 local government areas of Cross River State.
Dr. Linda had launched the initiative at the state level several weeks back and it was replicated at the local government level with government house sources suggesting her aides advised she keeps Boki and Obudu for last due to ‘certain reasons’.
Obudu is over 300 kilometers north of Calabar, the Cross River State capital and is home to the Governor and his wife.
Linda while in Obudu assured all who turned out to witness the event at the J. A Agba memorial stadium of her husband’s commitment to helping women in the state.
She said that the initiative which aims to emancipate women from poverty through the provision of soft loans for women in business, promote unity and create awareness for women to participate in politics.
The struggling antecedents of the woman informed the formation of the organization as it will help women tackle the various factors of hardship Linda said.
Earlier, she had visited the 3 Megawatts diesel fired power plant built by the current administration and promised that the state will intervene to ensure the plant challenges are resolved in order for residents to enjoy sufficient power supply.
Linda who had visited with an entourage of almost all the political appointees from Obudu, was received with dance groups from all political wards in the local government area.
