The Coordinator of the Social Responsibility Program (SIP) in Cross River State, Hon. Nkoyo Toyo has disclosed that from 13th June, 2017 the N-Power portal will be opened for new applicants.
She made the disclosure in Calabar while speaking to journalists at the sideline of the Acting President’s working visit to Calabar.
Commending the Federal Government for the initiative she further revealed that already, the Social Responsibility Program has enrolled 4500 graduates in Cross River State “with about 1000 living in Calabar alone, in Yakurr we have over 300, Obudu almost 200 in Boki about 180 just a few to mention”.
Responding to questions regarding none payment of stipends to some she said: “Those who have difficulty in payment have incorrect details, many change their numbers not effecting it in the bank, some use their husbands name and number, some got married and did not do necessary changes, a lot of them don’t know how to use the internet and some were disqualified for couple of reasons”.
According to her “Over 85 have received their money; the next step is to focus on those absent from work and take necessary action”.
N-Power is an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria which was designed to usher jobless Nigeria graduates into different phases of life opportunities and empowerment through volunteering method geared towards job creation.
The program which will run for about Eighteen Months cuts across the 774 LGA’s, the Thirty Six States of the Federation, and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
