The Cross River State Commissioner for Power, Dr. Eka Williams, has reportedly died in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
His sudden death throw his family, friends and people of his native Akparabong Community in Ikom Local Government Area into mourning
Family sources confirmed the death on Sunday, September 13, 2026, as reported by Calitown.
The circumstances surrounding his death have not been officially made public, although the report stated that the Commissioner reportedly slumped in Abuja. Medical records relating to his death have also not been released.
The news come as a shock to those close to the deceased, who was said to be active in recent days.
A close friend of the late Commissioner said Eka Williams was with them during Governor Bassey Otu’s recent visit to Ikom and had even called him to his residence for an assessment meeting after the Governor’s visit.
Dr. Eka Williams is the second commissioner under Governor Bassey Otu’s administration to pass on following the death of the former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Abubakar Robert Ewa.
Mr. Ewa passed on in the evening hours of January 8, 2025 at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
