No fewer than 12 people absconded service while 2 will serve two weeks extension for minor offenses as a total of 1,750 Stream II Batch B youth corps serving in Cross River State were on Thursday discharged after their one year mandatory scheme.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that 926 females and 838 males were issued discharge letters with two, Miss Progress Oberiko with State Code CR/17B/0132 and Miss Evelyn Anyede with state code CR/17B/0906 bagging the Governor’s award for meritorious service.
Also, 22 corps members got the State Coordinator’s commendation letter for their outstanding performance during the service year.
Meanwhile, a new coordinator has resumed at the state office of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) following the transfer of Lady Eniola Ambekemo.
The new coordinator, Mr. Adegoke Ayodele who until his appointment as State Coordinator, was a Deputy Director, Evaluation Division at the mobilisation department at the NYSC directorate headquarters, Abuja.
Adegoke resumed on Wednesday and described his posting to Cross River as an opportunity to contribute his quota to lift the scheme to a new level under Governor Ben Ayade.
He solicited the cooperation of the staff to enable him improve on the gains recorded so far even as he hoped that the hospitality he has enjoyed so far will continue and provide him the needed operational environment to excel.
