By Patrick Obia

A non governmental organization, Doriye Foundation has taken their humanitarian out reach to public schools in Obudu Local Government Area to enlighten students in their academics.

The outreach with the theme “You can be anything” was set rolling at St. Charles primary school Obudu, began with a Spelling Bee competition organized for the senior classes was witnessed by teachers and interested students.

At the end of the competition, Master Paschal Andor emerged as the over all winner with a grand prize of N5000 and an automatic ticket to participate in the State’s spelling Bee competition slated later in the year. The reward was sponsored by The Impact Development Foundation, a group that promotes education in the State.

High point of the outreach was an interactive session between Doriye Foundation team members and the students as they (Students) highlighted lack of school fees, school books as well as writing materials as their major challenges as public school students.

To climax it all, the NGO distributed writing materials such as note books, pens and pencils to the pupils to contribute to the efforts of their parents in creating a better society full of equipped children who can both read, write and practice what they are being taught.
