A man has been allegedly killed following an attack on a cocoa farm in Isibendeghe Community, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The incident reported on Wednesday, 5th August, 2026, at the Boki Police Division by one Mrs. Etta Maria Ado of Onisha Farm, Isibendeghe Community.
According to the complainant, three men identified as Patrick Otu Debang, James Osa G, and another suspect popularly known as “Pepsi,” all said to be from Boje Community, allegedly stormed her cocoa farm where three laborers were working and opened fire on them.
She alleged that one of the workers, Joseph Francis Friday, sustained fatal gunshot injuries during the attack. The complainant said that the suspects had repeatedly harassed and threatened her over activities at the farm before the incident.
She stated that the two other workers, Clinton Abang and Amobi Igwe, escaped the attack and later returned to inform her of the incident that transpired.
The Cross River State Police Command through its spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpah said following the report, detectives from the Boki Police Division visited the scene, where the body of the deceased was recovered.
ASP Sunday said it was discovered that there were multiple pellet wounds to the chest and abdomen, injuries believed to have been inflicted with a locally made firearm.
He added that the corpse has been deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while investigation has commenced with a view to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
