Prof. Florence Obi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar has appointed new acting Heads of Departments (HODs) “to deliver on her mandate,” the school public relations unit announced.
In the announcement made available to CrossRiverWatch, the school said: “The latest appointment was conveyed in a letter dated October 6, 2022, and signed by the Vice-Chancellor.”
In the letter, “Dr. James Otoburu Okpiliya has been appointed as acting Head of the Department of English and Literary Studies while Dr. Thomas A. Agbe mounts the saddle as acting Head of the Department of Statistics.
“In the same vein, the Vice Chancellor also appointed Dr. James A. Ugboh as acting Head of the Department of Mathematics while Dr. Surv. Gertrude Nanjar Njar is still at the helm of affairs as acting Head of the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics.
“Dr. Robert W.C Nwaguma is also appointed as acting Head of the Department of Architecture and Dr. (Mrs) Eme. J.Effiong as acting Head, Department of Accounting.
The new appointments also indicate that Dr. Simon K. Ajom takes charge as acting Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Dr. Eyo E. Essien as acting Head of the Department of Marketing.” The release stated.
The statement added that “The Vice-Chancellor charged the new HODs to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their duties as well as effective administration of their various Departments for optimal productivity,” and that the appointments are meant to last for 2 years.
