Fuel and transportation prices have increased in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. The gradual increase started last week when petrol stations within the city center increased their price to N180 per liter, those outside (8 Miles) sold a liter N200, but transportation price was not affected at this point.
Today, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, petrol stations within the city center are selling per liter N200 while those in 8 Miles are selling at N220. Though only a few have products to sell, at press time NNPC along the highway is not selling, and that of Mary Slessor is selling a liter N170.
Commuters were taken unaware as transportation prices increased today, N50 was added to the former fare price. Along major routes, a drop is now N100 as against N50. From 8 Mile to Mobil is now N150 while to Watt market is now N200 as against N100 and N150 previously charged respectively.
From Ekpo Abasi to Etta-Agbor to Marian which was N150 is now N200. From Atimbo to Watt which was N100 is now N150. From Anatigha to Marian Market which was N100 is now N150.
Transportation to other LGAs in the State has also increased between 8-10 percent while outside the State increased between 8-15 percent.
The cause of the increasing scarcity of fuel and increase in price has not been ascertained at press time.
