As the scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) better known as fuel and the hike in transportation continues to range, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has constituted an 11-man Joint Task Force team to monitor and as well as seal petrol stations in the State selling above the approved government pump price.
The Governor gave the directives in a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary, General Administration Office – Dr. Innocent Eteng, said members of the Joint Task Force are drawn from different stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Sector including security agencies are expected to, among other things, ensure that petroleum products are not diverted or hoarded.
He further directs the Task Force to ensure that operators of tank farms, and fueling stations sell petroleum products at the approved government-regulated price as well as “expected to also seal off any fueling station that fails to adhere to the government’s directive of selling petroleum products at the official rate.”
Members of the committee are Hon. Peter Okim as Chairman, Mr. Boniface Okache as Secretary, Asuquo Kingsley Bassey, Okoye Chidozie, Comr. Adular Charles Inzor, Capt Otu Ita Otu, Mbeh Williams, ASP Kabiru Ibrahim, Chief Supt Ojoi Ekpenyong Ogette, Richard Kalu, and Lt. Commander S.B Ahmed – all as members.
