Burn Tyres On Roads And Face The Law – Governor Otu Warns

The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu has warned residents of the State against burning tyres on major roads in Calabar metropolis before, during, and after crossing over to the year 2024.

In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emmmanuel Ogbeche, noted that it is to prevent the dangers posed to motorists and on the durability of the roads.

He encourages road users to adhere strictly to driving rules and avoid driving against traffic as they exodus 2023 and genesis the year 2024.

He emphasizes that those who flout the directive when caught will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

It reads: “The Cross River State Government wishes to warn residents against the burning of tyres on major roads in Calabar Metropolis.

“This caution has become expedient in the face of the danger the burning of tyres on streets poses to motorists, and on the durability of the roads.

“Similarly, the government wishes to inform all road users to adhere strictly to driving rules and avoid driving against traffic.

“Perpetrators are hereby warned that those caught disobeying this directive will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
