Miss Obubra Emerges Winner Of Cross River Most Beautiful Girl Pageant

The pageant representing Obubra Local Government in the Cross River Most Beautiful Girl, CRMBG, beauty pageantry, Miss Prosper Achu Ayuk, 19, has emerged winner of the maiden edition of the contest.

She was declared winner of the contest which took place at the Venetian Mall, Calabar, last Saturday.

As the winner of CRMBG Miss Ayuk won a Chevrolet Spark 2013, five hundred thousand Naira cash prize, trips to the UK, US and Italy amongst other prizes and she is to represent the state in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN contest to hold later in the year.

Following the line of victory as first runner up was the representative of Akpabuyo, Miss Ndang Ekpenyong, 20, landing with a hundred thousand cash prize; while Miss Amba Takim Alobi, 24, pageant representing Boki in the contest went home with a fifty thousand Naira cash prize.

Others awarded prizes include Miss Jane Achi David, 18, pageant representing Ikom, who clinched both best traditional attire and Miss Congeniality; Miss Photogenic went to Miss Marycollette Montul Matiki, 22, pageant representing Ogoja; while the winner of the contest, Miss Ayuk also coveted the best evening gown.

Also given various offers include pageant representing Etung, Miss Nyen Ajom Ogar, 18, as Face of Belle’Sabel Grooming Agency, BGA; while Calabar South pageant, Miss Christabel Agbor Manyo was awarded Miss Catherine Make-Over.

Enumerating some of the projects she intends to achieve as the CRMBG queen the winner of the contest, Miss Prosper Ayuk said some of her pet projects include joining hands with former MBGN queen, Miss Isabelle Ayuk to eradicate some of the diseases affecting the Cross River public.

“I would help our queen-mother fight against typhoid fever, malaria and diabetes; because I lost my dad through diabetes, I always wished I could do something for him when he was ill.”She stated amid tears.

Earlier in a press briefing, the CEO of BGA, the organizer of the event, Miss Isabelle Ayuk told newsmen she the contest was aimed at empowering Cross River girls.

Highpoints of the event include music performances by Nigerian music crooner, Ikechukwu; music diva, Dialo; performances by the pageants dedicated to the over 200 kidnapped Chibok girls; while Nigeria’s comic icon Robert Ekpo rented the air with jokes.

Attendee at the event included beauty queens, both past and present including 2011 MBGN ex-queen, Silver Nduke and former 2012 Ghanaian Miss Universe, Gifty Ofori.
