The University of Calabar is set to join the global community in commemorating International Literacy Day (ILD) on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The event organized by the Department of Continuing Education and Development Studies, Faculty of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Education, aims to highlight the significance of literary education for individuals and communities worldwide.
The ceremony, scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM prompt, will be graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Florence Banku Obi, along with other distinguished dignitaries, including the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Education, Professor A. B. Arikpo, and the Head of the Department of Continuing Education and Development Studies, Dr. Love Joseph Asor.
International Literacy Day, celebrated annually on September 8, emphasizes the crucial role of literacy in shaping cultural heritage and promoting individual and community development. The University of Calabar’s commemoration of this day underscores its commitment to promoting literacy and education in Nigeria.
