Just in the late evening of Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, villagers muscled each other to scoop Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), better known as fuel at Small Iwuru in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.
With fuel prices pegged at least N1,000 to N1,100 per liter, some community members discarded the highly inflammable warning to fetch the highly sought-after commodity.
Also, despite the Dragon Squad (Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad) stationed a few meters from where the fallen tanker was profusely leaking, the risk of their actions was a secondary option by the scoopers who were already saturated.

There have been cases of scoopers who met their graves in the process of fetching fuel from fallen tankers.
